Oregon Water Restrictions
Oregon state law limits all residents to irrigating no more than half an acre total (about 21,780 square feet), including all lawns, gardens, and landscaping combined. This protects our community wells during summer irrigation season when water levels drop significantly. Gardens must be for personal use only – selling produce requires a state permit. Read our complete guide to Oregon water restrictions for compliance details.

Fire Safety
TVF&R, our fire department, says homeowner debris burning is the leading cause of wildfires in the state. If you can’t compost your yard debris or take it in for recycling, visit TVF&R’s Outdoor Burning website. Call 503-259-1789 first to see if there are any burn restrictions that day. Keep the pile small, or use a burn barrel with a screen. Clear a 15-foot radius down to bare soil. Don’t use gas to start the fire. Monitoring a burn pile from start to finish is required by law. Have water and a shovel nearby.
If the fire starts to spread, call 911 immediately.
Planting Responsibly
We urge members to install trees, shrubs, perennials, and lawns during the fall to give them a head start before summer heat and drought. Here are some links to information from Metro on planting trees, shrubs, and plants in a way that best supports their water needs, plus reference material from Fine Gardening Magazine. For those who may be interested in a rainwater collection system for their property, Metro has a good overview.

Call Before You Dig
Any digging over 12 inches deep anywhere on a property requires a utilities locate request.
